Daniel R. Sanford, PhD is a senior academic leader and scholar focused on teaching and learning in higher education. He is the Executive Director for Teaching & Learning at Boise State University, where he leads institution-wide efforts in faculty development, curricular innovation, and student success, with particular emphasis on evidence-based teaching and the science of learning.

His scholarly and professional work focuses on peer-led learning, learning science, and how institutions make decisions about teaching and learning, including the responsible integration of generative AI.

He is the lead editor of The Handbook of Peer Tutoring (Bloomsbury) and the author of The Rowman & Littlefield Guide to Learning Center Administration and The Rowman & Littlefield Guide for Peer Tutors. He is also the author of the forthcoming Artificial Intelligence, Authentic Voices: AI & Assignment Design for Critical Thinking in Higher Education.

He is frequently invited to speak, consult, and serve as an external reviewer on topics including assignment design in the age of AI, evidence of student learning, faculty development, and peer tutoring in higher education.
